I don't think it makes much difference on the bolts. I used an extra long hemostat on mine to get them out and back in. choice words do help!! the elkas are rebuild able and worth doing

the wheel bearings are sealed and not relubeable. 58000 is problely about right. things do ware out the speedo may be a bad ground. I think the manuel says to change bearings at 10000 miles

call me old school but you can balance your rear tire in the frame on a jack. leave the axel loose so the tire spins free, static balance is the preferred way, the heavy side will stop on the bottom....

yes the side panel has a short screw, like the top panel in the back, but it is a little longer than the one in the back, by about 1/8"
