I recently had a similar experience. I was riding with a friend (he was riding a Honda 1100 Shadow) and we got behind a dump truck on a very steep hilly road. I was actually enjoying going from...
I just ordered one from Amazon. Thanks for the advice.
Where is this SAE plug and it's fuse?
Thanks for the excellent advice. I have purchased a 12 volt air compressor for the times when it is needed.
Is there some modification to allow the use of the onboard air compressor (meant to air up the rear shock) to air up tires?
I had a hand brake installed before I bought my RTS. It helps a lot because my numb diabetic feet make using a foot brake difficult. Maybe that is another reason I love the SE transmission. I don't...
Before I bought my new RTS I was not sure I would like the semi-automatic transmission, but I love it. It gives me the control of a standard transmission without messing with a clutch. Who ever came...
Out of necessity I have ridden in -9 degree F. weather and it was not fun!. Normally, since it feels about 10 degrees warmer than it really is behind the RT's fairing, I will ride when it's in the 20...
Just curious. My 998 Rt hit 103. My RTS 1330 was still pulling at 107 in 5th gear. I hadn't got to 6th yet. Mine would probably go 117 but I'm not going to try.
Though I hesitate to ask, knowing that these machines are not racers, what is a realistic top speed for a Spyder (998, 1330, different models, etc.)? Surely some of you have "seen what it would do"....
Part of the money for my new ryde came from the sale pf MY Aero 750. It'll be missed but not too much because of how much I love my new RTS. :):):)
I just bought a NEW 2016 RTS with 16 miles on it. Cowtown found it still in the crate, assembled it. I traded my 2011 RT and bought the RTS and it is awesome. i had a hand brake installed and a...

Congrats on your new ride and I love the color too. I have a 2016 RTS in the same color and think it is the prettiest SPYDER I have yet seen.
I've ridden as cold as 17F and was comfortable except for my eyes. They were tearing up and the tears were freezing. The trick to riding in very cold weather is layers, lots of them. Also, I use the...
I figured it out. Thanks for the responses.
I mostly do 100-250 mile long trips. The longest ride was 615 miles in a 24 hour time frame with sight seeing, lunch and other stops thrown in. It was a great day.
How do I include a travel map?
I'm glad because I was a bit worried that Nanny might have a problem with the new tires. I fact, I did get a Check DPS error once since the change. It cleared and has not reappeared.
You are right about dressing properly. I have ridden as low as 17 degrees F. and was chilly but comfortable otherwise. Carhartt or similar insulated coveralls along with good long insulated underware...
Three days ago I got new "Dunlop car tires" put on the front of my 2011 RT. So far I like them a lot. I have ridden about 100 miles since the tire change. Steering is more precise and handling is...
A friend and I went on a little 175 mile trip recently. It was chilly (50's and 60s). He was on a motorcycle with a windshield and I was on my RT. He about froze while I was quite comfortable...
My 2011 RT has a standard transmission. Since I don't have to worry about centrifugal clutches, I just ride at whatever RPM I feel like. It makes life more pleasant.
I just carry one gallon of gas in a can from WalMart. No mess or fumes.
What do you mean about taking our darn sweet time in completing the trip? Do you take it easy on challenging roads as I do? After all, my RT is not a crotch rocket!
I will consider these solutions if I can't get used to the Spyder's brakes. I really do appreciate the info!
Yes, I know. I keep my foot near but not on the brake pedal. Don't want to give nanny a heart attack!
Well put!
I got my Spyder back yesterday. The dealer checked them out thoroughly and said that they worked fine. I test rode it and they stopped fine when you stomp on the brakes. However, I have developed a...
