I sooooo luv seeing "youth" get bitten by a :spyder2: and even better land here on Spyderlovers....were "reside" the bestest and smartest folks for all things Spyder.
Yep you are a youngster on my sliding age scale...and sure hope to meet you "on the road" or at a rally. I for sure will be at the Red Rock Rally in St. George end of September...
Again welcome and keep us posted. I woke up to 3" first snowfall and still coming down. Temps to drop into teens so nice to have the ground covered, but that means my F3 will be garaged and tethered to battery tender until the roads clear. I get around 20k miles on my ryde each season. Already have the calendar and maps out plotting "where and what" for 2017.
Have a ?....you are in the right place for the best answers...and we are a bunch of opinionated folks!!!:thumbup:
:welcome:and :congrats:on your spyder. Dale

Just figured out my 2017 ride last night:

Like you woke up to snow yesterday also and more to come today so when its clear again I will be on it again Cold or no Cold I have a New Years day ride to do and a Jan 24th ride (Birthday) that I have been doing for Years, I get the same thing every year for the last 7 years " Your how old and riding at this time of year" I just say have not learned any better
Yep the snow not the cold grounds me. I have a slight hill out of my property and the sun never hits there...sooooo the last spot to clear and that 20 ft of real estate controls my ryde time. Heck I even have to put my PU in 4x4 to get out....only 12 here this morning....brrrrrr but I've got all the necessary clothing to stay snug as a bug. Hey January is a great month. You will never catch me in age...my birthday is Jan. 31...so you might gain for a short while..
Well my 2017 list so far is the Run For The Wall (ontario, CA to WA DC)....then on to Valcourt (Can Am Homecoming)....then Red Rock end of Sept. I will do other ryding...I have gone to Spyderfest in MO for past 5 years..so far this year it has a ? for 2017. I love that event..OK...coffee needs refreshed and then off to help Santa with a couple projects...HO HO HO...MERRRRRRRRRY CHRISTMAS
:congrats: :welcome:Enjoy the ride
I'm 72 years young. I bought my first Spyder, a used 2013 Blue RT with manual transmission in March of 2016. I found friends on the Internet to ride with. Absolutely love riding. In November of 2016, I purchased a new F3T. In those 8 months of owning the RT I rode just over 10,000 miles. My husband doesn't care for motorcycles of any kind so he stays home while I ride. Love the feel and the power of the 1330 . Have fun, we aren't too old.
I've put 30,000 miles on two Spyders since I turned 70. And I plan to add at least another 30k over the next few years.
I rode 2 wheelers for about 45 years. Started REAL young. Sold my last one in the late 1990's. Last April at 75 years old, I bought a new 2015 RTs. All I can say is it was one of the best decisions I have made recently. I truly believe the years I was not riding at all, made the transition to three wheels easier than for those who were riding 2 wheels one day and the next on 3 wheels. Both my wife and I love our Rt. In addition suggestions and comments on this site have been very helpful. Although I do miss leaning into the turns on 2 wheels, I believe that I enjoy twisties as much on the Spyder as on 2 wheels. Body lean instead of bike lean. Just different. My first rides on the Spyder, I was very tense, held on too tight. Came home with a serious backache. Thought I was going to be unable to ride without a back rest. Saw a lot of advice on this site regarding relaxing. Don't hang on so tight. It works. No more back ache. The ride has become as enjoyable, possibly more enjoyable than 2 wheels. After buying my :spyder2: my doctor wondered what happened to my blood pressure problem. It was now too low. Had to take me off of a med.
I was able to put a tank through it the first day I brought it home. when the roads get clear I plan on riding the heck out of it. I too have to say I enjoyed the Spyder , It is a bunch of fun to Ride At this time have layed out a 8000 mile route for the ride in June.
... a VTX 1800s and my 68-yr-old legs were having a little trouble riding 2-up... friend recommended Spyder RT... we both rode it once and then we spent some of the kids' inheritance, bought the Spyder and never looked back. Easy on, easy off and the missus says she is VERY comfortable and feels confidence that she didn't have our last couple of rides on the VTX... me too! Welcome to Spydering and the forum.
Jim
Triked my '02 Wing in '05 with a Motor Trike kit. Bought a 2011 RTS and then a 2014 RT-Ltd when the '15s came out. Kept my Wing as it runs like a hose. Love them both. Wing on the interstates, Spyder in the hill country. Did not start riding until 1948. Have ridden in many countries during my Air Force career. I won't be 85 until August 2017. They are talking 70 here Saturday, I guess I will join the Hill Country Road Riders for our Saturday ride.
:spyder2:
Welcome aboard and good for both of you. Have fun, we sure do.
