2014 Radiator Protection
This may have been asked and answered somewhere where I missed it, but, what sort of protection is there for the radiator/fan combination in the front of the 2014s? I can see a large enough rock falling from god knows were and whizzing right up an intake on the front. Is there are substantive protection?

if your ryding roads with that size rocks floating about the radiators may be the least of your worries..they are protected for normal hazards. I would worry about sucking up some plastic bags and blocking them..!!

yep, I'm more worried about light debris getting in there, bags, paper, leaves. Us urbanites don't worry so much about rocks

It doesn't take much to ruin a good day. I've had a small rock fly up from a car in front of me in downtown St. Louis on the highway that happened to hit my compressor on my 2004 Accord and put a hole in it. You'd think that'd be protected too. Even a smallish piece of debris at 60mph has the potential to ruin a good day and some hardware. I'll go dig for that Facebook pics. It was more curiosity about how they protected it rather than "omg I'm too afraid to ryde." If that were the case, I'd be riding in cage every weekend rather than on our Spyder.
Thanks for the info. I expect an engineer at BRP to notice the possibility of a flaw but then again we have melting cylinders, bad turn signals and a hot foot problem :-)

Here, we worry about flying rocks. Most windshields have a ding or crack in them. I carry glass protection insurance and get a new windshield most every year. My previous car got its first rock ding on the windshield before I put 100 miles on it. On the highway, not a gravel road.
That said, I have not had any problem with the :spyder2: with windshield dings or hits, or front end damage. Maybe its the aerodynamics--don't know.

Just don't ride too close behind a Spyder that has no rear mud flap, these suckers throw a rooster tail on anything they can find ie water, sand, trash etc.

You could always replace the mesh if its not thick enough with perforated Stainless Steel plate
I did this in my Spyder 2010 RT-S SE5 Model
It is stronger than the OEM Wire mesh Looks better and even after being on some times cleans up well

It looks like the 2014 RT Model will be easier as they are both the same size and shape and maybe it will be a quick swap out
