This is what I have done. Got the RAM mount parts from GPS City and put it together. I used a universal holder and had to modify it. If your phone is a more popular model there should be a made to fit one available.

Check out the the Ram Xmount.

Ram Mount + X grip
Ram Mount + X grip.
You figure out which Ram ball mount you want to use and then you match the x-grip to your phone.
I love mine for trips that I don't know where I'm going.

As I see it..!!
you will find the best liked and most used is the "x" mount. Works for many devices and easy to use...

I'm running the Xgrip as well. Not totally thrilled with it. It would be nice if the phone didn't rotate once secure. I tried to adjust it so that it stops either full left or full right, but it always ends up kinda crooked.... Just my OCD I guess..

What year and model is your bike?
I ask because your bike is all black but your handlebars are silver? Why silver on a black bike, my handlebars are black on a yellow bike. Just seems odd. :dontknow:

I will be replacing my ram x-grip with this one, http://www.techmounts.com/products/i...product_id=317.
I saw it on Spyderpops F3 and a few other F3's during Bike Week. The phone is very secure with this one. I have used the X-mount without any problems but always worried if I hit a big bump would the phone come loose. This mount has a nice strong grip on the phone and it's not going anywhere.

That's a base ST. Could be stock bars or could be RT bars. I can't tell from the picture.

I really want to see what the finished mount looks like.

Be careful with the x gripper. Shortly after I installed mine, I saw a video where the phone jiggled loose and blew right off. Yikes! I've been afraid to try it.

I have the X Grip Ram Mount mounted in the center of my handlebars and it grips my phone pretty tight. I have had it for nearly 3 years with no issues. I have used this same one with my 5s and now with my 6 plus all with great results. Perhaps the person who did the video got hold of a lemon....
I guess if you wanted to be really safe you could attach a safety line from the phone to the base of the mount. I am confident that I don't need it though...

A year and a half of potholes in Vagina Beach and no rocking loose here.

I like that! How does it release?
Also, does it swivel randomly like the xgrip?
