Thanks, bikerchris. (That helped me spend less time on the concrete floor which is no bueno for my back.)
the bad news is to bleed that unit you need the BUDS system from BRP.
I performed the brake bleed using BUDS interface last week on my F3L. During the bleed process, buds cycles the ABS pump while MANUALLY pumping the brake pedal.
So, having said that……if one does NOT have BUDS, I think you can get away with bleeding the system……..accomplishing 90% flush. Something is better than nothing.
Hours and hours of posts available about bleeding brakes on this forum alone. Just about every brake bleeding theory seems to have been covered, like no bleeding calipers and just yearly replace fluid in the res ... to using BUDS ... to stomping the brakes on a rainy parking lot to activate, flush and dilute fluid in the ABS unit. It's all good as it's been a progression of knowledge over the years. The price of BUDS isn't horrible, a little pricey, but not as much as I thought it would be.
If BUDS is required to cycle the ABS pump to fully bleed the unit, what stops you from energizing the ABS pump manually by jumping the relay?
