Is there a way to adjust something/somewhere which would keep the trunk/top case open on a 22 F3 Limited?
I took mine into the dealership and they were able to fix it under warranty. Had to replace some parts that would hold the lid open.

its suposed to stay up, till you close it , if not, take to dealer to fix under warrenty..
a small rubber door stopper placed between front of lid to rear seat works- especially on windy days or on incline. less than two bucks for two.
I have the same issue but mine started with the addition of the rack. It is just heavy enough that the lid won't stay up. A stick solved the problem on my trip to AK. I don't think there is anything wrong, it is just a weak (spring?).
Plenty of threads on d-i-y fixes for this common issue...search "trunk strut"
"started with the addition of the rack"
This was the case for me also. I need to look for a fix. I would think there would be a gas strut that could be added to solve this issue?
I did this fix. It adds a helper spring to the strut for about $5.

Looking at your avatar pic you have something on top of your case, the strut on that cover is not heavy enough to lift that much weight, you will have to find a way to prop it up or get a heavier strut, I found one for my seat from McmasterCarr, some say that they have not had much luck for that trunk strut, so :dontknow: you may want to call them to see if such a dog can be found!

This is a heavier duty one that works with a Luggage rack on it.
Slingmods has a heavier duty replacement. Here's the video on replacing. I did the trick above of putting a heavy duty spring on teh strut to support it. Not as good, but waaaaay cheaper. https://youtu.be/0cozU3cf9sw
We have racks on both our f3l's. No problem with trunk staying up. Sounds like it may be a weak strut. That is what I would check first.
Well my 2017 F3 Limited doesn't have a strut. When I lift my trunk lid it snaps in place and won't fall until you push the orange release lever. Are we talking about F3's or RT's here.:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:
There must have been several iterations of the trunk: my 2020 F3L has neither a strut nor an 'orange release lever.' The hold position is built into the hinge as near as I can tell. A stick solves the problem.
mea culpa! I should have realized that the struts everyone was talking about were hidden behind the passenger back rest. Now I have my job lined up for today....
Fast forward to this pm. I pulled the backrest and to my surprise, there is one strut that is held in place with a bracket. I can't see any way to remove the top of the strut without removing the top of the box but that is just two bolts. Now to see if I can find a replacement strut. The video from SlingMods is evidently just for the RTL as the F3L, mine at least, is different. I'll see if SlingMods strut will work on mine.
I ordered this replacement strut and was able to install it yesterday. It fit my F3L just fine and does the job perfectly. Installation is not hard as long as you don't loose the U band. I lost it but the U-band off the original strut worked fine. (Someday I'll probably find it and wonder what it is and where it came from) :gaah:
On the newer Rt and f3l ( 2020 and newer) the truck lid strut is not robust to continually work in keeping the lid open and especially if parked on uphill or on windy conditions. Both my 2020 RTL and 2022 F3L Limited worked for a few months then lost it's functional capability. I now use a small rubber door stop wedged between lid and passenger seat back. Have on order a better built strut rod to replace oem.
My new 2023 F3 LTD special the lid stays open, and it has a luggage rack on it.
I have not had any problems with the lid.
I have had my new 2023 F3 LTD Special for almost a month now.
